Mailjet allows you to export templates and account data for use in other subaccounts or external tools.
Depending on what you want to export, the steps are slightly different.
Before you start: “Exporting a template” and “exporting your data” are two different actions in Mailjet.
- Templates can be exported or transferred to other accounts/subaccounts.
- Data includes items such as campaign statistics and contact lists, which can be downloaded for reporting or reuse.
Export a template from your main account to a subaccount
You can export marketing, transactional, and automation templates from your main account (Primary API Key) directly to one of your subaccounts.
To export a template:
- From your main account, go to the Template Gallery.
- Find the template you want to export.
- Click Options (the three dots), then select Export.
- In the export window:
- choose a subaccount from the first dropdown
- select the destination subaccount
- rename the template if needed
- click Export.
Transfer a template between subaccounts
If you want to move a template from one subaccount to another, you need to do it manually. Since direct subaccount-to-subaccount export is not available, the process is:
- download the template from the source subaccount, then
- upload it into the destination subaccount.
Choose the right file format
To keep editing the template in Mailjet’s drag-and-drop editor, download it in MJML format.
Step 1: Download the template from the source subaccount
- Open the Template Gallery in the source subaccount.
- Find the template you want to transfer.
- Click Options (the three dots).
- Select Download as → MJML file.
Step 2: Upload the template to the destination subaccount
- Switch to the destination subaccount.
- Open its Template Gallery.
- Click Create a new template.
- Select By coding it in MJML.
- Choose Import MJML from file and upload the file you downloaded.
- When prompted, click Use drag-and-drop if you want to keep editing the template in the drag-and-drop editor.
Export campaign statistics
You can export statistics for a single campaign or download statistics across multiple campaigns in CSV format.
Export statistics for one campaign
- Go to the Campaign Statistics page.
- Open the campaign you want.
- Click Download report.
Export statistics across multiple campaigns
- Open the Stats page.
- Select the time period you want.
- Click Download all in CSV.
Export contact lists
You can also export your contact lists for backup, reporting, or reuse in other tools.
- Open the contact list you want to export.
- Click Export list.
- Choose the format you want:
- CSV for sharing and analysis, or
-
Tab-delimited text file for spreadsheet tools such as Excel.
Things to keep in mind
- Direct template export is available only from the main account to a subaccount.
- To move a template from one subaccount to another, you must download it from the source subaccount and upload it to the destination subaccount.
- Use MJML if you want to continue editing the template in the drag-and-drop editor.
- Exported templates are imported as drafts in the destination subaccount.
- Template IDs are account-specific, so API integrations may need to be updated after export.
