Introduction
Mailjet is a powerful all-in-one email service provider that enables you to send transactional and marketing emails and better understand your contacts, email after email. Our intuitive tools and powerful APIs provide senders with a vast amount of analytics to get the most value from each contact, campaign and inbox.
By integrating Mailjet with Lightspeed you can:
- Easily add new and existing Lightspeed customers to your Mailjet contact lists. Sync the
- Enrich the list with additional contact properties (name, gender, birth date, customer type, company name, address, orders etc.) that are stored for each customer in Lightspeed.
- Add Boolean contact properties for up to 5 Lightspeed Customer Groups, indicating whether the contact is a part of that group or not.
- Create beautiful marketing emails in a few minutes using our drag-and-drop HTML editor, or pick from the gallery of ready-to-use eCommerce templates. Save your templates for use in the future with a single click.
- Manage your Mailjet contacts and contact lists. Add new or update existing contacts and contact properties. Create new lists, move contacts from one list to another and view detailed information about subscribed/unsubscribed contacts, statistics for each contact etc.
- View detailed deliverability and engagement statistics for your sent emails and campaigns.
Install and Configure
We have developed an application that helps you to quickly connect your Lightspeed store to your Mailjet account. Here are the steps that you need to follow.
Installation

Login to your Lightspeed back office.

Select the store, which you want to connect with Mailjet.

Go to the App store and find the Mailjet Newsletter App. Then click on ‘Install’.

Submit your Lightspeed login details, then click on next and select the option to grant access to Mailjet to access the information in your Lightspeed store.

You will be redirected to the Mailjet Newsletter App login page. Enter your API and Secret Key. You can get your API keys from the ‘API Key Management‘ section
Configuration
Once you establish the connection between your Lightspeed and Mailjet accounts, you will be redirected to the settings page of the Mailjet Newsletter App. Here you can manage your synchronization options.
Sync Contact Properties
The options you enable will result in the values of those fields being transferred to Mailjet as contact properties for the respective contacts. In addition, two more contact properties will be created, which will always contain values for Lightspeed customers - lightspeed_customer_id
and lightspeed_subscriber_id
will contain the respective client’s Customer ID and Subscriber ID, respectively.
This is how the information will be displayed in Mailjet for the respective contacts:
Use the contact properties to personalize your emails, or target a specific segment of your Lightspeed contact list.
Sync Customer Groups
You can choose up to 5 Lightspeed Customer Groups you want synced with Mailjet as well. For each one a Boolean contact property with its name will be created, indicating whether the customer is part of this group or not.
This will help you target a specific customer groups with marketing campaigns by using contact list segmentation.
Sync Existing Contacts
When enabled, this option will transfer all existing Lightspeed customer to Mailjet as contacts, along with the contact properties you have selected. If disabled, the synchronization will only be applied to newly registered or updated contacts.
Activate Synchronization
Once you have selected the sync settings you want, click on ‘Activate Synchronization’.
The synchronization will then start and take some time until it is completed, depending on the number of customers that need to be transferred to Mailjet.
All of your store customers will be added as contacts within a new list in Mailjet, called Lightspeed Customer List
. In addition, all customers that have agreed to receive marketing emails will be subscribed to another list, called Lightspeed Newsletter Subscriber List
.
For each Lightspeed contact property you have selected to sync an equivalent contact property will be created in Mailjet.
And with that, the synchronization between Mailjet and Lightspeed is active!
Update Synchronization Settings
If at some point you want to update your synchronization settings, simply go into your Lightspeed Store, then go to ‘Apps’ → ‘Purchased Apps’ and select the “Mailjet Newsletter Email Marketing App”. Then simply click on ‘Go to App’ to return to the configuration screen.
Keep in mind that you’re not allowed to update your synchronization settings, if a sync is currently in progress.
Access your Mailjet Account
If you want to access your Mailjet account while in Lightspeed, use the ‘View my Mailjet account on Lightspeed’ at the bottom of the synchronization page. There you can use the main Mailjet functionalities like Campaigns, Contact Management and Statistics.
Troubleshooting
Please note that if you delete the default Lightspeed contact list called “Lightspeed Customer list” from your Mailjet account, you will deactivate the ability to send email campaigns and track the contact activities of your Lightspeed customers present in that list.
